The Consultation Project

The aim of this project is to support, manage and facilitate staff to monitor services and represent people with learning disabilities in Islington

Power and Control Group:

We meet with professionals and family members to talk about problems and solutions for all kinds of things including employment, health, housing, keeping safe, discrimination and transport.

We speak to people with learning disabilities about current issues and ideas for the future at our big meetings.  The Big meetings are local public meetings for people with learning disabilities in Islington.

We spread the word about what a good quality of life people should expect at our big meetings, in our newsletters, on radio, on social media and in films.

User Led Monitors:

We visit projects and talk to people who live in and/or use services like Supported Living projects, Islington Council's Daylight Centre, Mencap Me Time, Elfrida Advocacy, Centre 404 Outreach service.

We ask people and family members questions like if they feel safe in the service, we also ask for feedback on what would make them happier about the service.

We meet with professionals from the council (like Safeguarding) and our partners from carers View -based at Centre 404, to check the quality of the work we do and see what we can do better.
