Advocacy

The aim of the Advocacy project is to support, enable and empower people with learning disabilities in Islington to have their voices heard, to access information they can understand and services that meet their needs

The Advocacy project works in partnership with POhWER to deliver advocacy for people living in Islington.

The Elfrida Society delivers one-to-one Care Act and community advocacy for people with learning disabilities.

These are some examples of how an advocate could help you

Community advocacy

-          Attending a meeting with professionals

-          Making a complaint

-          Help you find who can help you with an issue.

For example an issue with your benefits

-          Find out more about your rights

-          Change who supports you

-          Help to apply to move house

Care Act advocacy

-          Support you in a needs assessment

-          Support you in a review

-          Support you with a safeguarding inquiry with other professionals
