Support us Support an appeal Appeal - The Elfrida 'Making Friends' Workshop Donate Fundraise We ran a pilot group last year about 'Friendship'. We supported six people with learning disabilities to make new friends, have fun, feel happier and better connected. In doing so, we learned a lot about friendship ourselves but most of all we learned how difficult it can be for people with learning disabilities to trust in others enough to be real friends. Having friends we can trust helps keep us safe, feel good about ourselves and prevent the need for expensive professional support. Being connected to people we know we can turn to for support and fun when we need it - people who aren't paid to support us, keeps us happy . The ability to make and keep friends is a skill many people we work with find difficult to develop. Peer support groups work, they encourage mutual support and friendships to grow. Help us keep these groups going by funding the cost of support.
