Up
The Power and Control group speak up at meetings to say what
service users want from services in Islington.
Islington
Partnership Board
The Power and Control group represent service users on the
Islington Partnership Board. They also co-chair the Partnership
Board meetings.
Sub
Groups of The Partnership Board
The Power and Control group work with the sub groups of the
Partnership Board, like - Housing, Person Centred Planning,
Health, Workforce Development, Getting a Life, Transition
and Family Carers.
Training
The Power and Control group have had training in Makaton,
Speaking Up and Forum Theatre.
Interviews
The Power and Control group have helped in interviews for
jobs, like the Director of Social Care and the Head of Learning
Disabilities Service. They get paid for this.
Islington
Council
The Power and Control group have worked with Islington Council
on making their information more accessible, and how to employ
people with learning difficulties.
The Big
Meeting
The Big Meeting is held every 3 months for people with learning
difficulties in Islington.
This is a chance for people to listen and to have their say
about services for people with learning difficulties in Islington.

Managers come to ask people with learning difficulties what
they want from services. We talk about Health, Bullying and
Hate Crime, Jobs with Islington Council and Person Centred
Planning.
